3DVCE Wiki

Let me start by introducing myself. I used to work with Lee Graham to run most of the initial simulations on my hardware, this was around the beginning of quad core CPUs and I also found a hack to speed up the simulations. My computer ran simulations day and night. The "famous" End-over-end Worm originated during one of these nightly simulations. And I even have some small documentation and backup of it.

I read your contribution on the End-over-End Worm here on the wiki. Here I noticed you said: "The ancestor is not available for download, but currently breeding attempts are being made to back-evolve the end-over-end worm into this creature."

Since this worm was created on my old computer, and I still have backups, I might have exactly what you were looking for. I tend to backup a lot, and last week I stumbled upon some of these original creature files.

I don't know if it's still relevant now that we are in the year 2021. I don't know if anyone would still care, but if you are interested, please leave a message here or let me know a way I can contact you.

What I'll already share right now are the (small) notes I wrote down in TXT files, maybe they are useful to you:

The worm=grandpa.evolution has been copied 3 times and each copy has done a run. The worm=grandpa.evolution has started with creature 0 of generation 1 of the nooscillators.evolution experiment. This makes the 3 new creatures sharing a common ancestor (creature 0 of generation 1 of nooscillators.evolution).

and

Each CPU runs a worm=grandpa.evolution These are evolutions that originate from the original worm creature evolution ( nooscillators.evolution ) generation 1 creature 0. Therefore, there are 3 ( through 3 different CPUs ) different grand children from generation 1 creatrue 0 from which the worm was created

I'm going to be honest, although I wrote that, it sounds like chinese to me now, these are files from 2008, that's 13 years ago.

Concerning the backups: I've got 3 directories called "family1, family2 and family3" and each one of them contains a file "worm=grandpa.evolution". If I had to guess, this file is this "ancestor" file that you are looking for? Or at least the settings file, I don't remember how the program worked. Either way... the 3 folders also contain many generation .creature files. If you are looking for a .creature file as the "ancestor", then the odds are that the file that you were looking for is one of these 1450 .creature files

Once I find more of my backups, I'll keep an extra eye out for that "nooscillators.evolution" that I've been mentioning in this TXT files.... might also be important.

I don't really know how this Wiki fandom stuff works. But let me know here if you are interested to learn more, or PM me (if that is a thing here) on how I can contact you to talk about it.

Kind regards, The "father" of the end-to-end worm ;-)
